There's a long list of things that I would LOVE to tackle very soon.

1. Re-paint Little Tikes basketball goal -trash to treasure!

2. Paint kitchen table, chairs, and bar stools- it's time, the finish is wearing off on my table top...apparently in it's almost 6 years of life it's seen a lot of abuse.

3. Paint entry way bench- which also means my current entry way table needs a new home...interested? I bought it on clearance for $25, so if you want it consider it yours. It's metal and glass--DANGEROUS around 2 year olds!

~~4. Paint kitchen- I'm thinking a gray/blue tone~~

5. ~~Paint or~~ touch-up paint living room built-in. ~~If you've been to my house---keep it white or make it dark brown/black?~~

~~5. Paint living room- I'm thinking a green...sage maybe?~~

6. Re-decorate kitchen...placemats/napkins, drapery

7. Make faux roman shades for kitchen window ~~and living room windows.~~

So, that's 9 things I'd like to tackle VERY soon. By like the end of summer.

I could give you a run-down of where I purchased everything, but I'm not going to. I think that's lame and what kind of a party thrower would I be if I gave away all my secrets?! Not too mention, I'm a mother of twins and figuring out where I bought each item would take entirely too much time ;)

Back when I was pregnant...

Drew reloaded our computers recently so we found all of the pictures from my pregnancy and with the girls turning 2 this past Friday, I thought it was a good time to reminisce. Even though I was enormous and the girls have left irreversible damage to my tummy that will someday require a tummy tuck, I was basically the model pregnant woman health-wise. Everything went smoothly and bump free. I maintained perfect blood pressure the entire pregnancy. I was told that I would most likely need modified bed rest when I got close to term, but I didn't need it (because I'm awesome) :)

I had a scheduled c-section for June 23, 2009, but the girls had other plans. My water broke on June 10.

A and J weighed 5.5 and 5.6 at birth...which adds up 10 lbs. 11 oz. of pure baby. CRAZY!

Later on tonight I'll post about the girls' awesome birthday party!

Cowgirl Cookies!!

I saw this recipe on Bakerella and was intrigued. My first thought was that these would be PERFECT for Addi and Jai's party. So, for Easter I have decided to give them a test run. They were fairly simple to make, but they do require some elbow grease. Next time I'll be adapting it to use with my KitchenAid. I've only had one fresh from the oven so far and they are pretty yummy. I'd say they are like a chocolate chip cookie...with a twist :)

Cowgirl Cookies

Here's what you need:

Dry ingredients-
1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup cooking oats
3/4 cup M&M's--I used the Spring Mix!
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar

Wet ingredients-
1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup butter (melted slightly in the microwave)
1 teaspoon vanilla

You can add pecans, coconut, or whatever else you'd like throw in. The recipe on Bakerella's blog calls for pecans...but I'm not a fan so I left them out. I'm that person that picks her pecans off of her pecan pie! (the filling is the best party anyway, right?!)

In a large mixing bowl, mix all dry ingredients together.

Add wet ingredients. Add previously mentioned elbow grease here. It helps to use your hands to really get the ingredients mixed together well.

Roll into 1 to 1 1/2" balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten the balls slightly, they will cook more efficiently. Don't pay attention to my cookie sheet, she's been through a lot of baking ;)

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute before transferring them to a wire rack to cool.

Dig in!!

I'm hoping these are a hit at our Easter gathering tomorrow!

UPDATE: Cookies were a BIG hit! They were gone within 10 minutes!!

I ended up choosing an entirely different outfit altogether. I'd show it to you, but I think I'll keep it as a surprise :)

Thank you to everyone that commented on my last blog post. It helped tremendously until I realized that something else might be better suited for the activities/food that the girls will have at their party.

I'm down to below 140 now! I'm calling out my mom on this one because she told me I would never see this number again and I set out to prove her wrong! Ha :) GOOD RIDDANCE BABY WEIGHT!!

I'm not sure how I managed to lose weight this time, I've been sick all week so diet and exercise went out the window.

Us girls have been out of commission this week with viral infections aka colds :(

In other news, A and J are 21 months old today! That means I have exactly 3 months to put all of my party plans into action. I plan things waaaaay in advance! I already have the location and date set in stone. We are not having the party at our house this year so that we can invite those people that weren't invited last year. Last year we were trying to keep things low key so that we didn't overwhelm our 1 year olds! Now it's time to start buying decorations and supplies that I have been bookmarking and "hearting" for months! Here's a secret: The party theme is Minnie Mouse...or as A and J call her, "Mimi".

We weighed in today:

Me: 140.9---down 1.8lbs. since last time!!!!!!!!!

Drew: 217.2---also down 1.8lbs. since last time!!!!!!!!

This week hasn't been a great week food wise. Darn Valentine's Day and the candy that comes with it! I'll be buckling down as far as food again next week. We are still exercising on a regular basis, usually 5-6 days per week.

Drew and I gave each other a panini maker for Valentine's Day. Best. Gift. Ever. We have had panini's every single night this week and we sit around trying to come up with different flavor variations. We bought this one at Target. If you don't have one of these things...go buy one!

I'll try to post pictures of my little bits soon. They are 20 months old now and we are going through the terrible 2's x 2...fun times :)

Ok. So, we couldn't wait any longer to weigh in.

Here are the stats as of today:

Me: 142.7----down 3.3 lbs. since last weigh in!!!!!!

Drew: 219----down 1 lb. since last weigh in!!!!!!!!!!

I am now to to the weight that I was at my first OB/GYN appointment at 13 weeks. A little over 3 more lbs. and I'll be back to pre-pregnancy weight all together. I'd still like to get down 10 more lbs. after that...size 6's are screaming my name!

Gone Ducky!

A is OBSESSED with "duckies". If she see's a duck, no matter what it is, she freaks out and screams "Ducky! Ducky! Ducky!" until we either A. give in and give her said "ducky" or B. re-route to a different area and she eventually forgets about "ducky".

About a month ago during a routine Hob Lob visit, we passed duck print material. Of course, A HAD to have it. I gave in thinking that I would make cute little pillowcase dresses, which I made one of today.

I took a break at this point, all before the sewing.

1st Weigh-In!!!

It's January 31st, the day of our first weigh-in.

My weight: 146

Drew's weight: 220 (starting weight 226)

I lost NOTHING! Not even kidding. But, I do know that I've lost inches. My arms are a little leaner and more defined and I'm starting to notice that my quads are becoming more defined.

I can fit into these shorts now...

I haven't been able to wear them since pre-baby days.

Drew has lost 6 lbs. since December 31st. And he looks GREAT! I'll gather some photos soon, I promise :)

Next weigh-in is Valentine's day!

Here's a picture showing the huge difference in Drew's appearance. It's amazing what just a few short weeks of doing what you are supposed to do does for your body.

Christmas Photo Contest Winnings!!

I entered the girls' first Christmas picture from 2009 into a Christmas Photo contest hosted by Accessories By Ashley on Facebook...and it WON! Thanks to all of you that voted for my cuties!

So, the girls received a $5 credit towards anything from ABA.

I already had a $1 credit for allowing ABA to use the girls' Halloween pictures. Ashley made the pumpkin tutus that my girls sported for Halloween 2010.

She makes awesome girly things, and the craftsmanship is phenomenal! I can not say enough about her hair bows either, they are such great quality! I highly recommend her stuff :)

With the $5 credit, I chose to order 2 Valentine korker bows. The only thing I had to pay for was shipping. AWESOME!

They were eating cookies...hence the cookie crumbs allover A's face.

A new us...

It's a new year and I am more determined than ever to get back to at least the size I was before my little sweeties came along. But that isn't my resolution. My resolution is to become more self disciplined. The self discipline will be what aids the weight loss. Without the discipline, I would venture to say that weight loss is virtually impossible. I've completed this journey once before. If you knew me in high school, you know that I was a little on the heavier side. I lost approximately 50 lbs. within one year after I graduated.

I DO want to lose some LB's. Just to have an idea of my goal, here are a few pictures of me from about 2 or 3 months before I found out I was pregnant. And yes...we fished a lot!

Now let's throw in a prego picture just so you guys can see what a belly that is carrying 10 lbs. 11 oz looks like. The girls weighed 5.5 and 5.6 at birth. Some day when I have time I'll share my birth story :)

This is a journey that Drew and I are doing together. I'll keep you guys posted with weigh-in stats for both of us. We are not weighing ourselves until January 31st.

Here's how we're doing it:

No gimmicks. No fad diet. No weight loss drugs.

We are eating HEALTHY foods. Lots of lean meats, fruits, veggies, and waaaaaay smaller portions. We have cut french fries out of our lives completely and greasy fast food is a huge no-no. I had actually gotten to the point where eating fast food made me feel like absolute garbage immediately after I ate it.

We exercise almost every day. I switch off between the elliptical machine and the 30 Day Shred (which is an awesome workout, I recommend it!!)

Every morning for my breakfast I have 1/2 scoop of protein mixed together with about 1 cup of 1% milk and 1/2 a banana.

You can get this protein at Sam's.

So far, Drew has lost an entire pants size. I am now able to wear a few pairs of jeans that I couldn't even get buttoned before now. I can't wait to weigh myself!!!!

That Christmas blog I said I would do...

I made Oreo balls as a treat for Christmas. Loved them! They are extremely tasty and they are so easy to make! I'll post the recipe later :)

Santa visited the girls a day early. We did our Christmas morning thing here at our house on Friday morning. Drew had to work Christmas Eve evening and we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off on Christmas Day. I'm wishing and hoping for one family gathering per day next year so that we don't have to do the run around thing. It's exhausting for the girls and us. Not too mention the girls don't get time to enjoy any of their gifts.

I know it's been over a month since my last blog. Sorry! Here's some highlights from the past month (prepare for very random bloggage):

Both girls are WALKING everywhere and are into EVERYTHING!

We have lots of new teeth!

Vocab is on the rise. A and J can now say "doggy", "backpack", "ball", "baby", and "awe"...not too mention all the other words that they had already been saying.

Can you believe my little babies are 15 months old?!? I look back at pictures of them from when they were first born and it is so hard to believe that my now 20 lb. little girls used to be so tiny!

I love being a SAHWM (stay at home working mom). Addi Jai Boutique has taken off. I'm 3 sales shy of hitting my 50th sale milestone! I love being at home and being productive all at the same time. I am truly happy!

I FINALLY got my hair done today. I haven't had it done since June and it was driving me absolutely crazy!

Oh yeah----update for my previous blog about the homemade laundry detergent: I had to discontinue the use of it in my household because the girls had reactions to it and it doesn't get that dirty dish stink out of dish rags...so gross!

Better Laundry

I've been wanting to try making my own laundry detergent and today I did just that. I'm thinking you should try it too. It's super cheap, pretty darn easy, and it actually cleaned my dirty clothes. I found this recipe on another blog and decided to give it a shot.

Here's what you need:
3 cups Borax
3 cups Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
1 bar Fels Naptha

All of these items can be found in the laundry isle of your favorite grocery store. I bought all of mine at Meijer.

I didn't decide that I wanted to blog about this until after I had started to make the detergent. Anyway...

Go ahead and pour 3 cups borax and 3 cups arm and hammer in a LARGE bowl. Grate the Fels Naptha bar. It will resemble cheddar shred when its all said and done.

Next put the Fels Naptha in a blender/food processor so that you can get a more powder-ish consistency.

Now, mix all ingredients together. It will resemble this...I know this isn't a great picture...sorry :(

You can now pour the finished detergent into an airtight container of your choice. I chose a little bucket that had had some sort of holiday candy in it that we re-used.

All it takes is 1 tablespoon of the homemade detergent per load of laundry. I tested it on a load of darks and it worked just as well as our regular detergent.

Oh, on a side note...the homemade detergent doesn't suds. I found that a little odd, but it doesn't matter.

Another laundry suggestion that I have for you is to switch from your usual softener to plain ole' white vinegar. I've read that fabric softener is actually a carcinogen, so the switch is highly recommended. Not too mention, vinegar is DIRT CHEAP! I've been using 1/2 cup of vinegar in every load of laundry for about the past 6 months. Works great. Though I will admit that some things will still hold static, but it's not a big enough of a deal for me to continue to use softener.

For the life of me, I can't get anyone I know to try any of this. My sister says she will, but my mom just kind of looks at me like I'm crazy for suggesting it. Haha, I'm telling you...it is worth a try!

I made these burritos for dinner tonight. I didn't have green chiles so I didn't use them, and I used fat free refried beans instead of ranch style beans. They were quick, easy, and pretty tastey! I even froze one for Drew to take for dinner one night this week. The girls however did not like them. Not fun cleaning burrito chunks off the floor, might I add.

The girls almost broke my cell phone today. I don't know if it was drool or water from their straw cups, but the water damage indicators on the phone and battery have gone from white to red. I was really surprised because they have been playing with my phone for months and it just now screw up. Drew dried the phone out with the hair dryer and did some other things. It now works, just not perfectly. I can get calls and I can probably text...haven't tried yet to be honest. I see a new phone in my future...

Happy early birthday to me, from my wonderful husband...

We are re-decorating the hall bath! It is currently decorated in rubber ducks and has been since we moved here 4 years ago. It has gotten OLD. Anyway, we are going all girly...brown and pink with PINK walls :) Oh how I LOVE pink!

J now knows how to undress herself. I went to get her out of her crib a few mornings ago and this is what her crib looked like...

That is a pair of pj pants and a pair of socks, alongside her dolly that she sleeps with every night :)

J and A hold everything up to their ears like it's a phone now. You say "hello" and they put whatever they are holding up to their ears. They have a thing for phones...haha.

A said "yuck" to her daddy today and J said "hi" into a walkie-talkie when she was playing with her grandpa yesterday.

We turned our car seats around today, which is sooooooo awesome! My jeep seems soooo much bigger!

Big changes...

It was brought to my attention that I left everyone hanging with my last blog, so here is my news...

On Thursday I submitted a request to take a leave of absence from my current job. It's something that Drew and I decided at the end of the 2009-2010 school year, but I procrastinated actually going through with it. If my request is rejected, I will be submitting my resignation. This is what is best for me and my family.

As far as another job, I'm unsure. Right now we are playing things by ear. I've started to sell a little in my shop and I've also applied for full-time jobs that would practically double what I was making...which would allow me to put the girls in daycare. But, knowing what I know about daycare (I worked in one once), the thought of putting my children in one makes me cringe. Only time will tell and I'll definitely keep you posted.

Other things...

And yes...A is getting ready to kick J. They are so mean sometimes!

When I went to get the girls out of there cribs this morning, J looked like this...

Her right arm was completely out of her sleeper! No telling how long she had had it like that. Silly J!

Today, the girls and I ventured out to Miss H's 2nd birthday party! It was a super cute party and the girls had a blast. J stole a sandwich right off a man's plate and I ordered Devin a Bahama Breeze from Taco Bell...I believe Bahama Blast was the correct drink name!! It was one of those days, but it was a GREAT day!

This is the bow that I made H for her birthday...

You won't find this particular bow in my shop because of the whole copyright infringement thing. I don't want to get involved with anything like that. However, I am going to be adding bottle cap bows using non-copyrighted materials :)

Also, I'm going to be adding these to my shop...

Small pompoms designed to be gift "bows". You can attach them to gift bags, wrapped packages, make a garland, use them as napkin rings...the list goes on and on.

Since I last blogged I learned that I'm actually a pretty good photographer. Fourth of July pictures of my little firecrackers taken by none other than myself :)

Thursday night Drew took one year pictures of the girls. I know, I know, I know...it's only a month late! It's that whole time issue thing again, haha. Anyway, he shot the pictures and I did the editing (which Drew taught me btw). I think they turned out awesome! VISUAL FLAIR PHOTOGRAPHY----seriously people...my husband is awesome!

The girls are now CRUISING! They cruise along the couch, their gate, and they can walk behind their sit and stands!!

I know in my last blog I said that the girls had like a bazillion teeth coming in all at one time...well they have more! They are working on molars!!

Random stuff

It's been awhile since I last blogged. Sometimes it is rather difficult to find the time. I've created a shop on Etsy... Addi Jai Boutique! There are no items for sale as of right now. It's a time thing. Okay, let's be honest. It's not just a time thing. I am having trouble coming to terms with actually selling things. I don't know if it's that I'm afraid of failing or if I'm afraid of people thinking that my products just plain suck. Eventually, I hope to be able to put some items in my shop so that maybe I can make a profit...but who knows really. Haha.

Drew and I have started a weight loss-good health-sexy body journey. We are now EXERCISING in the privacy of our own home and we are ridding ourselves of bad things like aspartame. I miss Diet Coke already :(

The girls both have like a bazillion teeth coming in all at one time. It's crazy!!

We are completely off of formula (thank goodness!) and we are down to TWO bottles per day. For those of you who don't know, Drew and I spent about $400 a month in formula ALONE. Huge relief not to be spending that anymore. Not too mention not having to wash as many bottles :)

I am finding myself wanting to become a full-time student. I crave it. Who knows, maybe it'll happen :)

Happy Birthday to my Little Ladies!!

I decided that I was going to go with the whole ladybug theme for the party back during the Halloween season when we had chosen ladybugs for the girls' very first costumes. I've been slowly throwing money at the party since March. I figured that way we got to have a pretty great party and no expenses were too heavy. Most things we created ourselves, which saved the most money in my opinion.

First things first...the invitation. My husband and owner of Visual Flair Photography created the invite from scratch.

As far as decorations, I got a lot of help from Expressions By Devin, who is a very good friend of mine. She does awesome work and I highly recommend her products!

Pom Poms by me!! I'm thinking of opening a shop on Etsy and selling them. I was going to do a "bowtique" but I'm thinking I like working with paper a little more. We shall see!!

This Happy Birthday banner, I actually created myself. I surprised myself a littlle, ha! The centerpiece is the work of Expressions By Devin. I did up generic little gift bags for the very few children that were attending. They consisted of bubbles, tattoos, Smarties, and Laffy Taffy. Good stuff!

The cake table. I did chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with a special buttercream frosting. I used those new Reynolds "Baked For You" cupcake liners. The liners are paper on the outside and foil on the inside, that way the outside design of the liner stays perfect. No grease seeps through. Well, I don't like them. Yes, they hold true to what they say. But, my cupcakes began to seperate from the liner and they weren't as moist as my cupcakes usually are. I just wasn't impressed and I won't be using them again. I'm a BIG cupcake baker, so I know it wasn't my cooking!

I made each of the girls tutus for the party. They lasted for about the first 15 minutes. It was just too hot! But they were so cute :)

The girls each had embroidered onesies and bloomers that were just to die for! I got them through Bella Claire Baby . I highly recommend her as well. I ordered the outfits, which also came with a bib, waaaaay before I was going to need them to insure that she could make them for me. It ended up that I received them about 2 weeks prior to the projected ship date. I was sooooo impressed!!

Okay, that's a wrap for the party decor. I know you want to see my little cuties making a mess, haha. I think the pictures speak for themselves :)

Zoo things and weekend rountines

We met my brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces at the zoo on Sunday. It was actually A and J's first successful trip to the zoo. I say successful because we attempted to make a visit during the whole Halloween at the zoo extravaganza. Mistake. We went at the worst possible time, so we had to park like a mile away from the zoo and we were going to have to take a bus thing to get there. Imagine getting on a bus with two infant carriers and a snap-n-go stroller. Ha! We were not even going to try it. Anyway, we had a great time. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, it was such a beautiful day!
Yesterday was Monday funday! We did most of our running for the week. Target first for our weekly supply of formula (I'm hoping it's our last time having to buy any...whole milk here we come!!), odds and ends, and a couple of b-day presents for the girls. Next up was Lowe's for some more much needed odds and ends then we were homeward bound for the remainder of the evening.

Today was a lazy day for the girls and I. Drew had to work so it was just me and the babies. He works 2nd shift so we get him for the first part of the AM and the girls are in bed before he gets home in the PM...which sucks! Anyway, I've been trying to get things in order for the BIG birthday party this weekend. Let's just say I still have plenty of work to do. I'll post TONS of pictures of the party, not to worry! I am so so so excited about it :)

Trying out this whole blog thing...

This blog will mostly be about A and J, who have their very 1st birthday coming up next Thursday. I can't believe it has almost been a year. It definitely doesn't seem like it. This year has been the most life altering year of my entire life. A lot of life lessons have happened this year. I've learned a lot about being a mother, being a good wife to my husband, and learning that those people that I thought I knew are actually not who I thought they were at all. I've learned a lot about myself and am still learning. Enough about that...

Here's some stuff from this week to get this blog started:

We took the girls swimming on Monday. J LOVED it and A hated it. But, I wasn't really surprised. When the girls had their very first bath, J didn't mind it much and A screamed the ENTIRE time.

Tuesday was my last day of work. Hopefully that will be permanent. I am on the hunt for a part-time job! So, if you have any connections in my area...let me know!!

J learned how to pull herself up on Wednesday night and hasn't quit doing it since. She thinks she's pretty awesome (and she is!)!!

A bit me yesterday. Yes, you read that correctly. My almost 12 month old daughter bit her mommy. She bit hard too...she almost drew blood! It was probably my fault, I was on the hunt for new teeth and she just wasn't having it.

That should do it for now. I promise this blog will be more interesting than this, haha. This being my first post, I wasn't really sure what to write!
